| The NPOESS mission is entirely dependent upon technology — the application of a set of scientific and engineering doctrines. This is best exemplified by advanced sensors, presently under development, that will be carried aloft aboard NPOESS orbital vehicles.
Remote sensing technology is a dynamically evolving field providing almost daily advances. Research programs, conducted by NPOESS partners around the world continue to enhance the sophistication, accuracy and precision of sensors which in turn will provide better data for better forecasts.
